Duke Of Edinburgh Award

Here at My Choice Childrens Homes and School, we are exceptionally proud to be able to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and are committed to making it accessible to the children that are in our care. We are an approved Operating Centre under West Sussex local authority.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a self-improvement programme designed to allow young people the opportunity to develop essential life skills, discover new interests, talents and offer them a fun experience.

The scheme is made accessible to all young people within the age range, regardless of ability, gender, background, or location. Achieving an award is not about competition or being first, it’s about setting challenges and pushing personal boundaries.

There are three levels to the award, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. All three levels require young people to complete expeditions, carry out volunteer work in their local community, develop or perfect a skill and to take part in regular physical activity.

Through our commitment to working with young people in a therapeutic way, we believe that the Duke of Edinburgh’s award gives our young people a unique opportunity to gain many transferable skills that includes building confidence, developing independence, as well as building resilience.
